Benefits of a Small School

MIK is a small school and with that brings plenty of benefits to the students we teach. Due to our small teacher to student ratio, the staff here at MIK are able to act as surrogate family members to our students. We are familiar with each students’ personality, preferences, and medical history. We are able to cater to each student and build a program that will aid them to grow into well-rounded adults. A major part of the program is helping the students learn to be idependent.

英語教育に最適な環境

1. Our English Program

In our English program, each lesson is especially designed to meet the level of the students. Each class receives a lesson tailored to meet their needs and help them advance to the next level.

「自分でできる」がMIKのテーマ

2. MIK Theme: “I can do it myself”

Our theme at MIK is “I can do it myself.” We have created a program that allows the students to actively participate in the lesson, by having them complete tasks on their own. The teachers act as motivators and encourage the students to do their best, no matter how small the achievement.

週間ごとに「Theme Week」を実践

3. Theme of the Week

Each week we have a different ‘Theme of the Week’. Each theme is chosen based on the interest of the students. Each week we work to build the students’ vocabulary and expand their understanding of the world.

責任と協調性を養う「Family Grouping」

4. Family Grouping

We have 5 levels here at MIK. The staff tends to the care of each group individually. However, we also group the students together to forge a bond between older and younger students. The older students act as elder siblings to their younger friends and are seen as role models for future behavior. The younger students help their older friends develop a sense compassion and a desire to help others. The students work together to encourage each other during lesson time and playtime activities.

5. Physical Education

Though MIK may not have large facilities, we have a strong Physical Education program. Our Physical Education meets the needs of each students. We have designed a program that allows all of our students to play active roles in their own physical development.

P.E. Classes Twice a Month
A licensed Physical Education teacher comes to our school twice a month. He teaches every student according to their level and helps them learn how to use our P. E. equipment. We also have daily outside playtime activities that allow the exercise and build their motor skills. During our Outside Playtime, we play games in English with our students; we construct obstacle course for them to engage in; and we set up a swimming pool during the summertime.
